Updates from Anna’s studio

WOW 2025!

Happy New Year everyone. Wishing you all a wonderful 2025 and an auspicious year of the Snake. I have had a few weeks off just lying on my couch looking out over the trees and the sky ruminating over ideas for landscape painting and fresh picture book stories. I am always trying to tame all the ideas in my head, especially at night when I should be sleeping, this is an ongoing challenge but writing everything down helps and so does reading or watching movies.

I’ve read six books over the summer including the new Cher memoir and some super chill Rom Coms which was fun.

I really enjoy cooking and its another way of staying creative but taking a break from my work and my head!

So that is how it has been here, a lot of reading, ruminating and cooking! Recently I have added swimming to the mix. Super relaxing. Living so close to the beach I find it criminal not to be down there every day or so however it is so crowded over the summer that I find myself only visiting in the evening. I much prefer the squally winds and thunderous waves of autumn and wintertime. A most inspiring pastime.

In book news……….

I was so excited that my book, The Heart of a Whale was printed in a new board book edition with Philomel US at the end of 2024 and was chosen as a Best Book on Amazon and Pick of the Month!

It is always lovely when a book that means a lot to you is brought out, sometimes years later, in a beautiful new edition, opening a world of imagination to new eyes and ears and giving the book a brand new life.

I have only just finished my new Agatha book and it will be off to the printers very soon. It was a pleasure to work on it over the last couple of months and I can’t wait for it to come out later this year. Remember all my Agatha Books will be out too at the same time in all their spotty loveliness.

I am starting a brand new bear book any minute. Some of you may remember my Always books that first came out in 2007. There are three in the series and are still in print all over. this will be my fourth in the adventures of Oli and Mamma. Sweeping watercolours and delicate expressive pencil work, so different from the Agatha book I have just completed which is mostly black and white, charcoal and collage.

I was really chuffed with the way my 2025 Champignons Calendar looked so I am now working on the new calendar for 2026. It will be herbal and floral. Check out my lined and unlined journals too.

In shop news, my new Etsy shop is full of original illustrations and artworks, limited edition prints and original illustrations published and unpublished. All sorts of artworks are added each month anything from trees to medieval castles, from humble houses, lighthouses to horses and possums. All my wares are hand-made so no two are alike. Please come visit in my Shop page. Small treasures and magical moments for everyone.

Calendars, Cards and Journals are available @nuovocards and on my website.

I am now selling personally signed copies of my books directly to the public. there are new titles, older titles and some titles which are out of print.

Please go to my contact page for any queries and requests about books, calendars, cards and journals.

all the books will be posted on my insta so please DM me there if you like.

Have a great February.
